Dedicated to the memory of my Darling, Francie(My Rose Forever)

THE ROSE
  Red roses were her favorites
 her name was also Rose.
 And every year her husband
sent them, tied with pretty bows.
  The year he died,
the roses were delivered to her door.
The card said, "Be my Valentine,"
 like all the years before.
Each year he sent her roses,
and the note would always say,
"I love you even more this year,

than last year on this day.
My love for you will always grow,
 with every passing year."
She knew this was the last time
 that the roses would appear.
  She thought, he ordered roses
 in advance before this day.
Her loving husband did not know,
 that he would pass away.
He always liked to do things early,
 way before the time.
Then, if he got too busy,
 everything would work out fine.
  She trimmed the stems,
and placed them in a very special vase.
 Then, sat the vase
beside the portrait of his smiling face.
  She would sit for hours,
 in her husband's favorite chair.

 While staring at his picture,
 and the roses sitting there.
  A year went by,
and it was hard to live without her mate.
 With loneliness and solitude,
 that had become her fate.
  Then, the very hour,
 as on Valentines before,
The doorbell rang, and there were roses,
 sitting by her door.
  She brought the roses in,
and then just looked at them in shock.
Then, went to get the telephone,
 to call the florist shop.
The owner answered, and she asked him,
if he would explain, Why would someone do this to
 her,
 causing her such pain?
"I know your husband passed away,
 more than a year ago,"
The owner said, "I knew you'd call,
and you would want to know.
  The flowers you received today,
 were paid for in advance.
 Your husband always planned ahead,
 he left nothing to chance.
  There is a standing order,
that I have on file down here,
And he has paid, well in advance,
 you'll get them every year.

  There also is another thing,
that I think you should know,
He wrote a special little card...he did this years
ago. Then, should ever I find out that he's no
 longer here,
That's the card...that should be sent,
 to you the following year."
She thanked him and hung up the phone,
 her tears now flowing hard.
Her fingers shaking, as she slowly reached to get
 the card.
Inside the card, she saw that he had written her a
 note.
Then, as she stared in total silence,
 this is what he wrote...
"Hello my love, I know it's been a year since I've been gone,
I hope it hasn't been too hard for you to overcome.
I know it must be lonely, and the pain is very real.
Or if it was the other way, I know how I would feel.
The love we shared made everything so beautiful in life.
I loved you more than words can say, you were the perfect wife.
You were my friend and lover, you fulfilled my every need.
I know it's only been a year, but please try not to grieve.
I want you to be happy, even when you shed your tears.
That is why the roses will be sent to you for years.
When you get these roses, think of all the happiness,
That we had together, and how both of us were blessed.

I have always loved you and I know I always will.
But, my love, you must go on, you have some living still.
Please...try to find happiness, while living out your days.
I know it is not easy, but I hope you find some ways.
The roses will come every year, and they will only stop,
When your door's not answered, when the florist stops to knock.
He will come five times that day, in case you have gone out.
But after his last visit, he will know without a doubt
To take the roses to the place, where I've instructed him.
And place the roses where we are, together once again.

GIFT OF STEALING
It was a Christmas nightmare. Two days before the holiday, all the
Stacker family presents were stolen from under the tree in their Idaho
home. Christmas eve, Larry Stacker, his wife, and their caroling group
were invited into a neighbor's house to sing. There they saw their
presents under the neighbor's tree. Another member of the caroling
group, the assistant chief of police, made the arrests.

The Ski Lodge:History of Howelsen Hill - Steamboat Springs, Co.
Altitude Without Attitude!
The early 1900s brought change as the same hardy settlers who battled winters just to survive
began turning the hills of Routt County into a winter playground. This change came about with
the help of Norwegian Carl Howelsen who arrived in Steamboat Springs in 1912. Soon after
his arrival, the young Norwegian was ski jumping off a wooden platform in Strawberry Park
and teaching jumping lessons to local youngsters. In 1914, Howelsen organized the first Winter
Carnival and jumping competitions. During the 1917 Winter Carnival, Steamboat Springs
honored the man who transformed skiing from a means of transportation to a recreational past
time by naming Steamboat's official ski slope Howelsen Hill.
As skiing grew more popular, adventurous downhillers sought new hills to test their ability. As
soon as Rabbit Ears Pass opened to winter traffic in 1938, the Forest Service cut two new
runs down the back slopes of the pass to the Valley View Lodge, and for the next few years
numerous Winter Carnival events took place on these hills. MORE....

Survival Tip: It is no shame to be lost.
If you decide you’re really lost the next morning,
signal your position. Bright fires at night and smoky
fires during the day may alert searchers. Sets of
three signals are a universal appeal for help: three
fires, three blasts on a whistle, three shots from a
gun, three flashes from a signal mirror. If a clearing
is nearby, indicate your position to air searchers by
building the largest arrow possible out of whatever
is available pointing to your location. Stamp out an
arrow in the snow. Brightly-colored outdoor clothing
and gear make very visible markers when laid on
the ground or hung from a tree.
Until next time: Be Safe ~ Be Happy!!

Why do you need PGP?  by Phil Zimmermann
If privacy is outlawed, only outlaws will have privacy. Intelligence
agencies have access to good cryptographic technology. So do the
big arms and drug traffickers. So do defense contractors, oil
companies, and other corporate giants. But ordinary people and
grassroots political organizations mostly have not had access to
affordable military grade public-key cryptographic technology. Until now.
Whatsamatter, I've got nothing to hide. Why do I need e-mail privacy?
Show me an e-mail user who has no financial, sexual, social, political, or professional secrets to keep from his family, his neighbors,

Clintonites petty thieves
The Clinton followers didn’t just go away quietly,
they destroyed a lot of government property. An
economist, Dr. Larry Bates, said, “Where we had
actual destruction of government property was in
many of the White House offices and in the Executive
Office Building ... They took all of the W keys off the
computers, they broke them, and painted graffiti in
the restrooms, anti-Bush slogans. You know, just
hooligan type stuff. It just shows you what we’ve had
in the White House for the past eight years. Now,
why did they take the W? Well, that's what George

                           W. Bush’s middle initial is and he’s know as Dubya.
There were hundreds of computer keyboards that
                           had the W removed.”
Dr. Bates also said that they’ve found that phone lines
were cut, rendering them inoperable, voicemail
messages were changed to say obscene messages,
desks were found upturned and completely trashed,
litter everywhere. Computer printers were filled with
blank paper but interspersed with pornographic
pictures, filing cabinets were glued shut, the vice
president’s office space was in complete shambles.
The Washington Times reported that Air Force One
was stripped bare. The executive mansion itself was
wrecked as was the Boeing 747 aircraft. The White
House was filled with petty thieves. Over a quarter of
a million dollars of damage was reported. I want all
the Democrats to know this information.

Naps during pregnancy:
A 30- to 60-minute snooze during the day can improve alertness,
sharpen memory, and generally reduce the symptoms of fatigue. A study
by the National Sleep Foundation found that more than half of pregnant
women take at least one nap during the workweek, while 60 percent take
at least one weekend nap. Keep in mind, however, that sleeping during
the day could disrupt a good night's sleep.

NOTE: Always Check with and follow the advice of your Physician!

Should I stop my baby from sucking his/her thumb?:
Babies generally suck their thumb to soothe themselves. When your
child has to be away from you, she may turn to her thumb to make
herself feel better. You don't have to stop your child from sucking
her thumb right now. In general, thumb sucking is more aggravating to
parents than it is to kids. Your baby will most likely stop when she's
ready and has developed other ways of soothing herself.

FRESH PEACH, BROWN SUGAR PIE:
The name of this one just about says it all. The juicy peaches...the
caramelly brown sugar syrup...the flaky crust.... You'll find yourself
making this recipe often this summer. Serves eight.

- Pastry for 2-crust pie
 - 1/2 cup sugar
 - 1/4 cup brown sugar
 - 3 tablespoons flour
 - 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
 - 1/8 teaspoon salt
 - 5 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced
 - 1 tablespoon lemon juice
 - 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
 - 2 tablespoons butter

Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Stir together sugars, flour, cinnamon,
and salt. Sprinkle peaches with lemon juice and almond extract. Add
sugar/flour mixture to peaches; mix gently.
Turn mixture into pastry-lined pie pan. Dot with butter. Add top
crust; cut vents in pastry. Bake 35 to 45 minutes, until juice bubbles
in vents and crust is golden brown.
Caleries per serving: Who Cares!! Enjoy!!

So until next time, REMEMBER:  If anyone speaks badly of you, live so none will believe it....

- As many as 50 gallons of maple sap are needed to make a single gallon of maple sugar.
