It's time to CELEBRATE! :
St. Patrick's Day is celebrated everywhere on March 17th by
both Irish and non-Irish people. Parades, the wearing o' the
green and an Irish feast are all customary on this day. A
typical American favorite "Irish" dinner is corned beef &
cabbage. An Irishman will probably tell you that he's never
heard of this boiled beef with cabbage, but he'll
gladly eat it with you nevertheless. Corned beef and
cabbage was actually created by immigrants in New
England, it is a variation of the famous New England
Boiled Dinner. So, kiss the Blarney Stone, do a jig,
swig some brew, and celebrate St. Patrick's Day
with us.

World War I: "A wing
and a prayer" was first uttered when an American flyer came
in with his aircraft so badly damaged that nobody could
believe he'd actually made it back in said aircraft with so
much damage - his fellow pilots and mechanics were amazed he
didn't crash. Reportedly, the fellow replied he was praying
all the way in. Another pilot chimed in that "a wing and a
prayer brought you back." The phrase stuck and eventually
made it into common usage referring to any sort of longshot
dream.

The stupidity of some people in this world never fails to amaze.
This picture is real - not doctored in anyway - and was
taken in Waldorf by a Transportation Supervisor for a
company that delivers building materials for 84 Lumber.
When he saw it in the parking lot of IHOP, he went and
bought a camera to take pictures.
The car is still running as can be witnessed by the exhaust.
A woman is either asleep or otherwise out in the front seat
passenger side. The guy driving it was over jogging up and
down on Rt. 925 in the background. The witnesses said their
physical state was OTHER than normal and the police just
shook their heads in amazement. The driver finally came
back after the police were there and was getting down at the
back to cut the 'twine around the load. They told him to
get back until it was taken off.
The materials were loaded at Home Depot. Their store
manager said they had the customer sign a waiver! Both back
tires are trashed. The back shocks were driven up through
the floorboard. In the back seat were 10 bags, 80 lbs. each
of concrete. On the roof are many 2X4s, 4X4s and sheets of
OSB. They estimated the load weight at 3000 lbs. The car
is a VW Jetta with FL plates and the guy said he was headed
for Annapolis, MD...JUST UNBELIEVABLE!!!!

FRAUD AUCTION ON YAHOO!
Recently: 02/11/2001, 44 bidders of VOODOO4 video cards, were set-up and
defrauded by a company WHOLESALE_PC, on the Yahoo! auction
web site! The perpetrator of the fraud admitted in an e-mail that he had intended
to defraud the bidders, as he had no video cards to sell. I'll make this e-mail
public with a link at the end of this article. There was a total of approximately
$3000.00 deposited by the 44 bidders into this persons PAYPAL
account! Here's the kicker: the crime was perpetrated using Yahoo! auction and
PAYPAL to suck the biders into a false sense of security! Well, after all doesn't Yahoo!
and PAYPAL claim to have fraud protection?! However, the fine print states that there
is no guarantee that you will be definitely compensated for a loss!
We requested that Yahoo! and PAYPAL both, release the real identity and location of
this crimnal, so that the bidders could file criminal charges against this person, with the
proper authorities where he resides! Responses from both Yahoo! and PAYPAL, were
that their privacy policy does not allow them to reveal the identity (there is a
link to their e-mails also, at the end of this article). So what this in fact indicates, is that
they are protecting the criminal from the victims! Terrific, huh?!
How To Bid On Auctions: If you find an item that you absolutely want, on any auction,
have the seller use an escrow account, which is usually available at the auction web site.
What this does is: the escrow company receives your money for the item and holds it until
you receive your product, if you're unhappy with the product, the escrow company returns your
money when the seller receives his product back. This insures that you get your product.
It takes a bit longer, however, it is definitely worth the wait! If the seller refuses to use
the escrow method, "Don't buy unless you know the seller is reputable"! Sellers using
Hotmail and Yahoo e-mail addresses cannot be verified as safe!! Get legitimate phone number
and physical address if you have any doubt, and call to be sure of legitimacy, and then be
cautious!

Are your feet swelling?:
Your body retains fluid while you're pregnant (this is called edema),
causing the soft tissue around your feet to swell. What's more, while
loosening the joints around your pelvis so the baby can get out, the
pregnancy hormone relaxin also loosens the joints in your feet and
causes them to spread -- sometimes permanently. Although the swelling
disappears after you deliver your baby, many women find that their
feet never go back to their pre-pregnancy size. Once your feet start
to swell, you'll need to invest in some larger shoes. If you used to
wear a normal size 7, try a 7 wide or an 8. And go ahead and get a few
pairs. Most likely you'll still be wearing them after you deliver.

Keeping your baby warm:
It definitely takes practice to be able to tell when your baby is too
hot or too cold. In the early months of life, most babies have
difficulty maintaining the appropriate body temperature. Because
babies can easily become too hot or too cold, you'll need to help them
stay comfortable by using the following guidelines:
- If your baby is sleeping comfortably and feeding well, and is calm
and not too cranky, then she's probably the appropriate temperature.
- Check to make sure that your baby's extremities -- her hands, feet,
and head -- are neither hot nor cold to the touch.
- As a rule of thumb, an infant needs one more layer of clothing than
an adult would wear at the same temperature.
NOTE! Always check with and follow the advice of your physician!!

WESTERN BEEF AND BEANS:
Serves 4.
- 4 slices bacon
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1/2 cup chopped celery
- 1/2 cup chopped green pepper
- 1 beef bouillon cube
- 1/4 cup hot water
- 1 (15-ounce) can baked beans
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon prepared mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Fry bacon until crisp; set aside. Drain
fat from pan. Cook and stir ground beef, onion, celery, and green
pepper until meat is brown and vegetables are tender; drain excess
fat.
In a medium bowl, dissolve bouillon cube in hot water. Add remaining
ingredients; stir into meat mixture. Transfer to a 2-quart casserole
dish.
Bake 20 minutes; remove from oven and crumble bacon over top. Return
to oven; bake 10 minutes longer, until hot and bubbly.,br>
