God's Wings
An article in National Geographic several years ago provided a
penetrating picture of God's wings. After a forest fire in Yellowstone National Park,
forest rangers began their trek up a mountain to assess the inferno's
damage. One ranger found a bird literally petrified in ashes, perched
statuesquely on the ground at the base of a tree. Somewhat sickened by the
eerie sight, he knocked over the bird with a stick. When he gently struck
it, three tiny chicks scurried from under their dead mother's wings.
The loving mother, keenly aware of impending disaster, had carried her
offspring to the base of the tree and had gathered them under her wings,
instinctively knowing that the toxic smoke would rise. She could have
flown to safety but had refused to abandon her babies. Then the blaze had
arrived and the heat had scorched her small body, the mother had
remained steadfast. Because she had been willing to die, those under the
cover of her wings would live.
"He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find
refuge." (Psalm 91:4) Being loved this much should make a difference in
your life. Remember the One who loves you, and then be different because
of it.
Please pass this on to others you care about and don't drive faster than
your Guardian Angel can fly. My instructions were to send this to people
that I wanted God to bless and I picked all of you.

Indian Lore & Tradition: The Kokopelli
Of the multitude of miscellaneous drawings, paintings and scratchings on the rocks and the
caves of the pre-Columbian people of the Southwest, only one Anthropomorphic subject
can claim both an identity and a proper name as well as gender. Without question, that
figure is decidedly male.
Kokopelli's frequent and widespread appearance on pottery and in pictography suggest
that he was a well-travelled and universally recognized deity of considerably potency.
A personality, an individual, the personification of a legend, a beneficent god to some and
a confounded nuisance to others, such is Kokopelli, the famous hunchbacked flute player,
the Kilroy of the Hohokam, thousands of years old but figuratively speaking very much in
the present.
- "IT'S GOD'S RESPONSIBILITY TO FORGIVE BIN LADEN...
- IT'S OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO ARRANGE THE MEETING..!!"
YES....IT'S REALLY FACT
Pigs are exceedingly loud
creatures. A University of Illinois study measured average
pig squeals that ranged from 100 to 115 decibels. The
supersonic Concorde jet, by comparison, was originally
banned from New York when its engines exceeded 112 decibels
at takeoff.
- "I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in
the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day."
Talk About Cute....
A small boy is sent to bed by his father. Five minutes later..."Da-ad..."
"What?" "I'm thirsty. Can you bring me a drink of water?" "No. You had your
chance. Lights out. "Five minutes later: "Da-aaaad..." "WHAT?" "I'm
THIRSTY. Can I have a drink of water??" "I told you NO! If you ask again,
I'll have to spank you!!" Five minutes later...Daaaa-aaaad..." "WHAT??!!"
"When you come in to spank me, can you bring me a drink of water?"

Ridin' the Rails: Secret City Scenic Excursion Train
Oak Ridge, Tennessee
Turn the clock back to yesteryear and return to the heyday of passenger
railroading with the Southern Appalachia Railway Museum's Secret City
Scenic Excursion Train.
Trains depart from the entrance to the East Tennessee Technology Park
(formerly K-25) near Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The train travels through this
historic Department of Energy facility where research and development
plunged the United States into the Atomic Age. Upon exiting the Park, the
train winds along Poplar Creek and Highway 327 in the beautiful hills and
valleys of East Tennessee. Additional route and facility history is available.
Each round trip travels approximately 13 miles and lasts one hour and thirty minutes. Trains are pulled by 1950's vintage Alco
diesel locomotives. Seating is in an air-conditioned coach and a dining car, both restored from the 1940's era of passenger
railroading. An open-air concession car has souvenirs and snacks for sale. Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $7.50 for
children. Advance reservations for all seats are highly recommended. Tickets will be sold the day of each trip if space is
available.
Happy Railroadin' Partners.....have fun and enjoy!!! No better way to enjoy wildlife....nature....and just down right relaxin'!

Outdoor Adventure: Cumberland Mountain Hunting Lodge
Monterey, Tennessee:
The Cumberland Mountain Hunting Lodge is located in the scenic Cumberland Mountains of
Tennessee, and offers the best in trophy hunting. Cumberland Mountain Hunting Lodge is an
area that is ideally suited for hunting. The beautiful mountain scenery is breathtaking. Some
of the mountain areas have cliffs that drop into a deep valley below with small streams.
The whole area teams with native wild game including deer, wild boar, black bear, wild turkey,
and other small game in addition to those species of game that are released. The surrounding
mountain terrain is very remote and in some places only accessible by foot, horse, or
four-wheeled drive vehicles. Virgin timber still covers some of the area. Local
guides will assist you in a very memorable hunt, getting meat for the freezer and a trophy for the
mantle.

Mountain Events Steamboat Springs, Co.
SKI TOWN USA NORDIC COMBINED WORLD CUP
Steamboat is proud to host the Ski Town USA Nordic Combined World Cup, December 16-18, 2001, for the eighth consecutive year. Nordic Combined has been called the decathlon of skiing because it requires a skier to use two totally opposite muscle groups - explosiveness and strength for takeoff in jumping, then swiftness and endurance for cross-country.
The action kicks off on December 16 with an individual event consisting of jumping on the 70-meter/K88 jump hill and a 7.5K individual cross-country sprint. On Tuesday, December 18, the competition moves to the 90-meter/K112 "big hill" with the 15K cross-country race.
Both the jumping and cross-country portions of the Ski Town USA Nordic Combined World Cup events will be held at historic Howelsen Hill, located in downtown Steamboat Springs. This ski area, which dates back to the early 1900s and has helped produce so many Olympic athletes, earned Steamboat its name of Ski Town USA. Operated by the City of Steamboat Springs, it's the oldest continuous operating ski area in Colorado and the birthplace of Nordic jumping in Northwest Colorado.

Survival Tip: Drink Plenty Of Water For Warmth
Dehydration can occur just as readily during winter outdoor
activities as in the summer. One reason is that the body
loses more water vapor breathing in the cold dry air. The
effects of dehydration will make you colder, will slow
digestion (making less nutrients available for energy
production), and can eventually lead to hypothermia. While
participating outdoors in winter, remember to drink plenty
of water and you will stay warmer and get more enjoyment
from the outdoors in winter.

THE CHAMELEON PRINCESS: HILLARY'S GRANDEST LIE
Hillary Clinton is attempting to reinvent herself again which, all things considered, is not the worst idea she's ever had.
It's just that this time the effort is so bald-faced and obviously self-serving that we simply can't resist triangulating a bit in her direction.

NEWS REVIEW: Holiday Special Report
Kisses
The story goes that some time ago, a man punished his
5-year-old daughter for wasting a roll of expensive gold
wrapping paper.
Money was tight and he became even more upset when the
child pasted the gold paper so as to decorate a box to put
under the Christmas tree.
Nevertheless, the little girl brought the gift box to her
father the next morning and said, "This is for you, Daddy."
The father was embarrassed by his earlier overreaction, but
his anger flared again when he found the box was empty.
He spoke to her in a harsh manner, "Don't you know, young
lady, when you give someone a present there's supposed to
be something inside the package?
The little girl looked up at him with tears in her eyes and
said, "Oh,Daddy, it's not empty. I blew kisses into it
until it was full."
The father was crushed. He fell on his knees and put his
arms around his little girl, and he begged her to forgive
him for his unnecessary anger.
An accident took the life of the child only a short time
later and it is told that the father kept that gold box by
his bed for all the years of his life. And whenever he was
discouraged or faced difficult problems he would open the
box and take out an imaginary kiss and remember the love of
the child who had put it there. In a very real sense, each of us as
human beings have been given a golden box filled with unconditional
love
and kisses from our children, family, friends and God. There is no more
precious possession anyone could hold. You now have two choices ... you
can:
- 1. Pass this on to your friends
or
- 2. Delete it and act like it didn't touch your heart.

Need labor support?:
If you don't have a partner or are worried that yours won't give you
the support you need, you might consider hiring a doula or a birth and
labor assistant. In fact, researchers have noted that women attended
by labor assistants have shorter labors, fewer labor complications,
and fewer problems with their newborn. The theory is that mothers
attended by doulas produce lower levels of stress hormones than women
left alone in labor or attended by inexperienced coaches. For more
information, check BabyCenter's Preparing for Labor area.

Ease your toddler's bedtime fears:
If your toddler worries that monsters are hiding under the bed, assure
him that you'll keep those nighttime nasties away. Make his room as
cozy and comfortable as possible. Get a cheerful night light to
illuminate corners where shadows lurk. Post a funny sign on the closet
door that says, "No monsters allowed!" And try not to expose your
toddler to scary TV shows, movies, or books, as these will only
exacerbate bedtime fears. Next, establish a bedtime routine and stick
to it, leaving plenty of time for a bath, a story, and some quiet
cuddling before lights-out. To help your toddler go to sleep feeling
calm, try to keep evenings as peaceful as possible (now is not the
time to hash out a contentious issue with your mate, for instance).
NOTE! Always check with and follow the advice of your physician!!
