In Loving Memory of A Beautiful Wife and Mother
Don't cry because it's over; smile because it happened
Frances Jean Koziol
Sept.12, 1950 ~ Sept.9, 1995
She always leaned to watch for us,
Anxious if we were late.
In winter by the window,
In summer by the gate.
And though we mocked her tenderly,
Who had such foolish care,
The long way home would seem more safe,
Because she waited there.
Her thoughts were so full of us,
She never could forget!
And so we think that where she is,
She must be watching yet.
Waiting till we came home to her,
Anxious if we were late...
Watching from Heaven’s window,
Leaning from Heaven’s gate.
So if you have a mother,
Cherish her with care,
For you’ll never know the heart-ache,
Until she isn’t there.
Loving Husband, Stanley and Children, Stanley, James, Kimberly and Jonathan
Folks, I beg you to cherish your loved ones, and tell them always how much you love them.....
NOTE: A significant amount of the humor and trivia seen on The MountainGnome, is contributed by a very good friend of mine...

MS Software Risky:
Well folks, here we go again! Microsoft software puts users at risk continuously! Folks, this is nothing more
than poorly written software, with no regard whatsoever for the end user! Profit is the only thing that motivates
Microsoft Corporation. Tae a real good loo at any of MS software from their Windows OS to any of their other
programs. Flaws, open back doors, security breaches! They have more patches than the federal highway system!
Have ya ever heard of any viruses that could hit Linux? I doubt it. A powerful OS, user friendly, not a resource hog,
and not vulnerable to viruses, trojans or other security breaches! In other words, a well written program with your security
at heart! And it's free to download or reasonable at retail prices!!
Read the rest of the story: Microsoft warns of Office, IE risks
By Reuters
August 22, 2002, 9:45 PM PT
Microsoft said Thursday that "critical" security lapses in its Office software and Internet Explorer
Web browser put tens of millions of users at risk of having their files read and altered by online attackers.
The world's leading software maker said that an attacker, using e-mail or a Web page,
could use Internet related parts of Office to run programs, alter data and wipe out a hard
drive, as well as view file and clipboard contents on a user's system.
Office, which runs on Windows and is used to write documents and crunch numbers,
is a major producer of revenue for Microsoft.

[From The Editors Desk]...
Catholicism
Folks, I'm writing this article because of some things I've dealt with over the years. First off, I was raised a catholic, however,
after I got older and really started to read the bible and understand it, and think for myself, many issues
of their teachings didn't add up. Many, many of my friends and acquaintances are catholics,
my issues are with the teachings, not my friends, I love them all dearly.
1.) Infallibility of Pope Issue: To my knowledge only God is infallible, and that according to scripture!
2.)Used to be a mortal sin to miss mass on sunday and eat meat on friday Issue:
Now it's okay to eat meat on friday and go to church on saturday. So all those
folks who died previously to this ruling by the infallible pope, went to hell, and now you won't.
Is there a problem with this picture?! By the way, there is nothing in the bible that refers to these pope made rules!
3.)The catholic church is your only salvation and anyone who isn't catholic won't be saved Issue: Now that's a real goodie!! Find that reference in the scriptures! The bible says that our only salvation is through "JESUS CHRIST"! The catholic church isn't gonna save ya and the pope isn't gonna save ya!
4.)Praying to saints Issue: Now we have ordinary men making holy saints if they meet certain criteria! Find that one in the scriptures. The bible says that all who die in the name of Christ and Believe in Christ are all God's saints. So now the catholic church is over-ruling God, huh? Second of all, you can't pray to these so-called saints: the bible says "the dead no not anything of this earth". Only God and the resurrected know of this earth. Further, you shall only worship and pray to the "Father"(GOD) and call no one Father but him and your earthly own!
5.)This brings us to mortal sins and venial sins Issue: According to scripture you have to be cleansed of all sins through Jesus Christ, in order to attain heaven. There is no mention of mortal or venial sins in the bible(another rule made up by the catholic church). There is no holding tank(purgatory) mentioned in the bible for different categories of sin(another pope made rule).
I am a Christian and believer in God and Jesus Christ, and my faith is in "HIS" word, not the POPE!
Catholicism and few other organized religions, seem to have been established to instill fear to control the members.
6.) Ya ever hear this one? It's self explanatory! "Thou shalt not make or worship
graven images...." Now you say, well I just worship who they represent....well who do they represent?!
What did the golden images represent to the ancient egyptians and Romans, etc.? They represented their
gods that they worshiped. According to the bible, you worship and pray only to the God. You don't need a statue to remind
you to whom you are praying to. That is in your heart.
You might think long and hard about that one! No one knows what God or Jesus look like.
More on Catholicism. This article
is very interesting.

America~A Bygone Era: Native America
Pueblo History San Juan Pueblo (Oke' onwi)
San Juan Pueblo is the largest of Northern New Mexico's six Tewa-speaking Pueblos, and one of the most active
and prosperous. Situated at the heart of the fertile Rio Grande basin, San Juan has always played a central role
in the long colorful history of the Southwest. Called O'ke in Tewa, the Pueblo contained the legendary Indian
meeting-ground of Yunge-Owinge; only at Yunge-Owinge, and only by an Oke native, could war be declared
by the federation of Pueblo peoples.
Conquistador Juan de Onate entered O'ke in 1598 and renamed it "San Juan de los Caballeros"
(Caballeros meaning "gentlemen" in Spanish) in honor of the O'ke Indians' hospitality and industry.
He proclaimed it the capital of North Mexico, which included the present-day states of New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, and parts of Texas.
Twelve years later, the Spaniards' growing greed for gold and slaves had upset the O'ke's famed hospitality,
and Onate was forced to abandon San Juan for a new capital at Santa Fe.

YES....IT'S REALLY FACT
It was the accepted practice in Babylon 4,000 years
ago that for a month after the wedding, the bride's
father would supply his son-in-law with all the mead
he could drink. Mead is a honey beer and because
their calendar was lunar based, this period was
called the honey month we know today as the honeymoon.
Good Humor Man....THE GETAWAY....
A man walked into a Topeka, Kansas Kwik Stop, and asked for all the money
in the cash drawer. Apparently, the take was too small, so he tied up the
store clerk and worked the counter himself for three hours until police
showed up and grabbed him.

EXPERIENCE THE GREAT OUTDOORS |
Outdoor Adventure: Ridin' The Rails
Santa Fe Southern Railway
Santa Fe, New Mexico
Known world-wide as simply "the Santa Fe," the Railway came into its namesake city in 1880.
The 120 year-old spur from Lamy to Santa Fe and its terminus, the charming California
mission-style depot at 410 S. Guadalupe are a piece of history which has fascinated people
all over the world. Every year, tens of thousands of visitors come to see, photograph and
paint the old Santa Fe Depot and ride the train along the original route that carried early
tourist adventurers, settlers, artists and scientists into the city.
For many visitors, the railway is the only thing they know about Santa Fe before they come
here: they hum the 40's swing song "The Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe," and they point excitedly
to the familiar Santa Fe herald, the blue cross in the circle.
People are thrilled that this piece of history continues as the Santa Fe Southern Railway,
a piece of living history, still carrying passengers through the high-desert beauty which is
our home, and still carrying freight to serve the community. Like the Plaza, the Santa Fe Southern Railway,
with its terminus at the old Santa Fe Depot, is an authentic, irreplaceable link to our City's colorful past.
The Santa Fe Southern Railway is not just a tourist railroad. Many people don't realize that many
New Mexicans enjoy learning about the history and viewing the scenery of the high desert while
riding on one of our vintage coaches.
When you come to ride the Santa Fe Southern, you'll enjoy seeing the historic depot and gift shop
where you'll find many books about the railroad and its history as well as t-shirts, toys, posters, train sets and memorabilia.

Fall colors may come early this year
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Normally, the fall foliage gold rush in Steamboat Springs begins about the
third week in September, but due to dry conditions this summer, the golden
hues of the aspen trees may be appearing a bit sooner than usual.
As the days begin to shorten, the green color drains from Steamboat's aspen
leaves and brilliant hues of gold and red take its place. The fall colors usually
appear sooner in the northern areas around Steamboat Springs, such as Columbine,
Hahn's Peak and Steamboat Lake, and in the higher elevations, including Rabbit Ears
Pass and the Flat Tops Wilderness Area. Steamboat's Yampa Valley is heavily populated
with aspen trees and various ground vegetation, such as scrub oak, making it one of the
best areas for color watching in Colorado.
Visit http://www.steamboatchamber.com/html/falldrives.htm for some suggested scenic drives.

Outdoor Tip: Series on High Altitudes
Traveling at high altitude can be hazardous. The information provided here is designed
for educational use only and is not a substitute for specific training or experience.
When going to altitude it is your responsibility to learn the latest information.
What Causes Altitude Illnesses?
The concentration of oxygen at sea level is about 21% and the barometric pressure averages 760 mmHg.
As altitude increases, the concentration remains the same but the number of oxygen molecules per breath
is reduced. At 12,000 feet (3,658 meters) the barometric pressure is only 483 mmHg, so there are
roughly 40% fewer oxygen molecules per breath. In order to properly oxygenate the body, your
breathing rate (even while at rest) has to increase. This extra ventilation increases the oxygen
content in the blood, but not to sea level concentrations. Since the amount of oxygen required
for activity is the same, the body must adjust to having less oxygen. In addition, for reasons not
entirely understood, high altitude and lower air pressure causes fluid to leak from the capillaries
which can cause fluid build-up in both the lungs and the brain. Continuing to higher altitudes
without proper acclimatization can lead to potentially serious, even life-threatening illnesses.
More on this subject next week...........

How to defeat the plot of the Illuminati: Part 1
After having read the previous article on the Illuminati and their plot to establish a one world
government and to abolish all religions, one could be led to fatalism and pessimism, and think
that these people are too powerful, and that there is nothing one can do to stop them.
Thinking that way would be a serious mistake! As powerful as the Illuminati may seem,
their project is doomed to failure, since they literally place their confidence in the devil,
Lucifer, and not in the true God, Jesus Christ. Moreover, the Catholics know that God
entrusted to Mary (see Genesis 3:15) the mission to crush the head of this proud Satan.
In Fatima, in 1917, the Blessed Virgin Mary foretold: "In the end, My Immaculate Heart will triumph."
The insignia of the Illuminati:
As surprising as it may seem, the insignia of the Order of the Illuminati appears on the reverse side
of U.S. one-dollar bills. The first time it appeared was in 1933, by order of U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt,
at the beginning of the New Deal (the name given to Roosevelt political reforms of that time).
One can read at the base of the 13-story pyramid, the year 1776 (MDCCLXVI in Roman numerals).
Most of the people think it represents the date of the signing of the American Declaration of Independence,
but it actually memorializes the foundation of the Order of the Illuminati, which was on May 1, 1776.
The pyramid represents the conspiracy for the destruction of the Catholic Church (and all existing religions),
and the establishment of a one world government, or a United Nations dictatorship. The eye radiating in
all directions, is the "all-spying" eye that symbolizes the terroristic, Gestapolike, espionage agency that
Weishaupt set up to guard the "secret of the Order and to terrorize the populace into the acceptance of its rule.
The Latin words "ANNUIT COEPTIS" mean "our entreprise (conspiracy) has been crowned with success.
" Below, "NOVUS ORDO SECLORUM" explains the nature of the enterprise: a "New Social Order" or a "New World Order".
This insignia was adopted by the U.S. Congress as the reverse of the seal of the United States on September 15, 1789.
(The obverse side of the seal bears the eagle, which is used as the official seal and coat of arms of the U.S.A. is also
shown on the reverse side of the U.S. $1.00 bills.)
The appearance of this insignia of the Illuminati on U.S. dollar bills in 1933 meant that the followers of Weishaupt
regarded their efforts as beginning to "be crowned with success," and that they totally controlled the U.S. Government.

TIPS FOR MEN ~ WOMEN and BABIES |
GUYS: Smelling Good:
How much cologne? It's the eternal question. (That and how
much vermouth?)
Use just enough that anyone standing within three feet gets
only a "whiff."
Don't knock folks down with your bottled smell!
NOTE: Always Check with and follow the advice of your Physician!
GALS: How much formula is enough?
If you breastfeed your baby, it's not hard to determine how much milk
is enough -- nature helps you figure it out. But what if you're
formula feeding? One of the most confusing things about giving your
baby formula is trying to figure out how much to feed her. If she
isn't eating any solids (and she probably shouldn't be before 6 months
of age), the general rule of thumb is to give her 2.5 ounces of
formula per pound of body weight in a 24-hour period. (If your baby
weighs 6 pounds, for instance, she should consume about 15 ounces of
formula in 24 hours; if she weighs 10 pounds, she should have 25
ounces.) Keep in mind that this is a general guideline; your
pediatrician should advise you about suitable amounts for your baby as

WINDOWS TIP: COPYING ADDRESS BOOKS BETWEEN USERS AND/OR COMPUTERS
To copy between users, start Netscape and load the User Profile to
which you wish to copy. Open Messenger (Ctrl-2) and click File,
Import. Select Communicator Address Book as the type you wish to
import and click Next. You will get a prompt to locate the address
book file you want to import. Netscape Communicator address book files
have the extension .nab or .na2, and you'll usually find them in the
Users folder under Netscape. Each user folder has that user's address
book file. Once you've located the file, double-click it and Netscape
takes care of the rest.
To copy address books between computers, you must first locate the
.nab or .na2 address book file you wish to import. Use the Find, Files
Or Folders utility in your Start menu. Search for *.nab or *.na2. If
multiple instances of these files appear, use the one in the user
folder from which you wish to copy. Copy the file to a floppy disk or
other removable media and transfer it to the second computer. Then
follow the instructions above to import it into your User Profile,
taking care to use the floppy as the location of the file to import.

My Mother taught me about RECEIVING:
- "You are going to get it when we get home!"
TIP: Ale Tip
Try serving full flavored ales and lagers with grilled
foods. Smoke imparts a distinctive, rich edge to most
foods. Light beers can be totally voided by these full
flavors. Brown ales, pale ales and German-style lagers can
compliment barbecued dishes without dominating.

Cooking Websites: Organizing clipped recipes
Here's a creative way to store those enticing recipes you
clip from magazines. Buy a binder, dividers, and a supply
of plastic sheet protectors from an office supply store.
Create divisions in your binder such as, main courses, side
dishes, desserts, baked goods, and any special categories
you like. As you clip recipes, it's very easy to slide them
into the sheet protectors and insert them into the
appropriate category of your binder. Why not file the
recipes alphabetically within each category while you're at
it.
If you try a recipe and decide it's not a keeper, just
remove it from the sheet protector and throw it away.
