JUDGE and JURY "OUT TO LUNCH" - Here's Your Sign
Folks, here we go again!! I just don't know where their heads are at. Common sense just doesn't seem to enter into our society anymore. It gets crazier every day! On with the news....GET THIS!!

'Jackass' Sued by a Real Jack Ass

YOUR THOUGHTS!

Should there be a
Constitutional Amendment to
ban same sex marriage?!

Definitely
No
Undecided

A Montana man has sued media giant Viacom, saying the MTV show "Jackass" plagiarized his name, infringed on the trademark and copyright o his name and defamed his good character.

The plaintiff's name is Jack Ass. That's right, that is now his legal name. He changed his name from Bob Craft to Jack Ass in 1997, he says, in order to raise awareness about the dangers of drunken driving.

"Jackass," which premiered on MTV in 2000, features a group of guys performing ludicrous and sometimes dangerous stunts. It was made into a movie in 2002.

In the suit against Viacom, which owns MTV, Jack Ass claims the conglomerate "is liable for injury to my reputation that I have built and defamation of my character which I have worked so hard to create."

This Jack Ass, not to be confused with the TV version, says he changed his name after his brother and a friend were killed in a single-vehicle car accident several years ago. He now works to promote responsible choices and designated-driver programs.

He claims that "Jackass" committed "trademark and copyright infringement on my legal name" and on a cartoon character, called Andi Ass, that he created to help spread his message.

He's seeking at least $10 million in damages.

PC REVIEWS:
AOL BROWSER...
Folks, the worst browser we have ever used, is AOL. Pop-Up Blocking is a JOKE! AOL has it's own Pop-Ups which it lets through - YOU can't block them - they're AOL's ADVERTISING - better than a couple of dozen, and they're extremely annoying! Pop-Up Blocker for whom AOL?!

Then there is the matter of browser configuration and e-mail configuration! Oh yes, you get to configure some idiot controls like theme(theirs only of course), emoticons, stationary backgrounds(again, theirs only of course). Now try importing or exporting your e-mail or bookmarks to another browser(taint gonna happen). Try configuring a different e-mail address(you don't have the configuration tools-oh yes, you are too stupid to perform that function). And now of course they took a great browser - Netscape - and turned it into an AOL clone, embedded all their garbage and took over control of most everything.

Let's talk about AOL dial-up numbers.
We signed up for the Netscape Internet Service and guess what?!! AOL, NETSCAPE, and WALMART internet service all had the same dial up numbers for our area! Coincidence? I think not.....

Folks, if possible, try Mozilla Firefox v.1.0 or Mozilla v.1.7.5 and get a browser that gives U control of your internet experience!

Next issue we'll take a peek at more "who knows what" !!

TREASURES OF READING
Folks, here are some great books to read, while sitting by that warm fire on a cold winter evening, or the cool summer breezes in your EZ chair........

Buy Today...Great Reading!! Rocky Mountain Christmas: Yuletide Stories of the West
by John H. Monnett

By evening everyone present agreed that the Christmas festivities were "the greatest known to that date" in the entire Taos region and Kit Carson was "chief over it all." For the first time in recent memory, different races and Indian tribes had "ate, drank and smoked together." The last toast of the evening was one pledging "fraternal peace" among the races in the Taos Valley. (From the book) Even under the most extreme conditions our pioneer ancestors kept the festive holiday spirit alive in their hearts and frontier homes. From Lewis and Clark's first Christmas in the Rockies to the generous gift that changed a widow's and her children's lives, this book shares celebrations of the Yuletide season.

America~A Bygone Era: History: America
April 2, 1865:
'A Day of Carnage and Blood'

Lieutenant Octavius Wiggins of Company E, 37th North Carolina, peered out across Arthur's Swamp in the pre-dawn darkness of Sunday, April 2, 1865. He was searching for the masses of assaulting Federal soldiers that he and his fellow members of Brigadier General James Lane's Brigade expected every morning to face along the lines south of Petersburg. Suddenly a few rifle shots from Rebel pickets broke the morning silence, followed by "one full, deep, mighty cheer," alerting Wiggins that this would be the morning.

The thin line of Confederate soldiers in the breastworks offered what resistance they could provide before they were overwhelmed. One of the Federal soldiers pointed the muzzle of his rifled musket at Wiggins and pulled the trigger. The blast blew powder into the lieutenant's face, nearly destroying his eyes and knocking him senseless upon the ground. For nine long, weary months, a set of formidable field fortifications and an obstinate foe had kept the Army of the Potomac out of Petersburg, Va., the capture of which would have made the Confederate capital and industrial center of Richmond indefensible, hastening the end of the war. Southern soldiers fought valiantly during those nine months. Each time the Federal army sought to move westward in an attempt to cut the Rebel supply lines, portions of the Confederate army battled back. Yet the numerically superior Federals were able to continually lengthen their lines, stretching the Confederate defenders painfully thin.

AN INTERESTING VIEWPOINT

"Money and Crime"
Well, here we go again!!!!!!!!
A La Junta, Colorado judge awarding cash money to inmates! That's right, if the judge finds any error what so ever in the process of filing disciplinary actions against an offending inmate, he gets cash! Now this makes it just that much tougher to discipline and control the inmate population, when they have a judge out there pulling this kind of crap. The CODE OF PENAL CONDUCT are laws for behavior in prison. When these laws are broken, the inmate can be charged with various charges depending on the infraction. Now the inmates are using this opportunity to their advantage and the taxpayers are footing the bill!

So to all prison staff - remeber to dot your"i's" and cross your "t's" when processing a COPD or your conviction turns profitable for the inmate!

Remeber this at election time folks. Thank judge KOLOMITZ for his kind and generous treatment of these little angles!

We here at The Mountain-Gnome whole-heartedly support the statement made above!

TIPS FOR MEN ~ WOMEN and BABIES

GUYS: Tongue Piercing:
Body piercing is risky business, and the tongue is perhaps the riskiest of all sites. Unlike most other piercing sites, the tongue swells a lot and bleeds a lot. Swelling often makes talking and eating difficult for days or weeks after the piercing. A few people have actually come close to dying after tongue pierces — either from uncontrollable bleeding or from swelling so severe that it interfered with breathing.

Even after the piercing heals, your troubles may not be over. Because the jewelry is moving around in the mouth (and you may have a tendency to play with it), it can damage your gums and chip or crack your teeth. Your piercing may also cause speech problems that last as long as you keep the jewelry on.
NOTE: Always Check with and follow the advice of your Physician!

GALS: AFP test results: What do they mean?
The triple screen marker, also known as the AFP Plus, is a common screening test for genetic abnormalities. Women get the triple screen marker test between their 15th and 20th weeks of pregnancy. A lab analyzes a blood sample for three hormones: maternal serum alpha-fetoprotein (MSAFP), Estriol, and human chorionic gonadatrophin (hCG).

Elevated levels of the MSAFP are a sign that your baby is at increased risk for neural tube defects such as spina bifida and anencephaly (severe problems with brain and spine formation), or problems with the abdominal wall or kidney. For example, a result of 2.55 would mean that you have a 2.55 times greater risk of having a baby with these problems than the median of women your age. Another reason for an elevated MSAFP result could be that you're having twins. Two babies mean twice the level of the hormones.
NOTE: Always Check with and follow the advice of your Physician!
  • Many years ago in England, pub frequenters had a whistle baked into the rim or handle of their ceramic cups. When they needed refill, they used the whistle to get some service. "Wet your whistle" is the phrase inspired by this practice.
BEAUTY: Want healthy glowing skin?

WINDOWS TIP: Today's Internet tip:
Automatically defrag drives with a new context menu item!
Contributed by Doug Knox
Create a new Registry import file named context_defrag.inf in Notepad (be sure to save with it with the Save as type set to All Files and not Text Documents) and place the following text inside:

; context_defrag.INF

; Adds Defrag to the right click context menu in Windows XP

[version] signature="$CHICAGO$"

[DefaultInstall] AddReg=AddMe

[AddMe]

HKCR,"Drive\Shell\Defrag\command",,,"DEFRAG.EXE %1"

Then, right-click and choose Install. This will add a context menu to XP that allows you to automatically defrag drives, using the command line version of the built-in defragmentation utility. To use it, navigate to a drive in My Computer, right-click, and choose Defrag. A command line window will appear, and that drive will be defragged. When it's complete, the window just disappears.

UPDATE: To remove this functionality, Open regedit.exe and navigate to the following location:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shell\

Then delete the Defrag folder and close Regedit.

TIP: Lemon Olive Oil
Citrus flavored olive oil can add zest to many dishes. Try it on chicken, salads or vegetables (like asparagus). It is especially good when used on fish and seafood. Herbs like basil and garlic can also complement the lemony flavor. Available at large supermarkets and specialty food shops.

Cooking Websites: Recipes
Although it might be premature to call anything on the web "classic", there are several sites I keep returning to over the years. Epicurious (epicurious.com) has excellent feature articles plus the Bon Appetit and Gourmet recipe archives. The Food Network site (foodtv.com ) is a great page, especially when used with the television shows. Recipe Source (recipesource.com) is the best site to find many versions of the same recipe.

QUICK-AND-EASY CARAMEL ROLLS: Makes 26
Here's the recipe to pull out when your kids storm the house with their friends and demand a snack. Even better, let them help--the recipe is easy, thanks to refrigerated biscuit dough, and the rolls are very high on the Yummy scale. If you want to, you can halve the recipe or freeze some of the rolls. Per roll: 338 calories, 16.7 grams fat, 14 milligrams cholesterol, 43.3 grams carbohydrates, .2 gram fiber, 5.3 grams protein, 830 milligrams sodium.
  • 4 10-count cans refrigerated biscuits
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 1-1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 3/4 cup finely chopped walnuts or pecans
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Generously grease 26 muffin cups. Cut biscuits in half; roll each half into a ball. Place three balls in each muffin cup.

In a saucepan, melt butter. Add brown sugar; stir until dissolved. Add water and nuts. Cook over medium heat until foamy, stirring constantly. Pour a tablespoon of sauce over the dough in each muffin cup.

Bake 15 minutes; cool 2 minutes. Remove rolls from pan and place on waxed paper. Spoon remaining sauce over rolls (heat sauce briefly if necessary).

Caleries per serving: "Don't Ask!! Enjoy!!

So until next time, REMEMBER:  They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but then an entire life to forget them.......God Bless....
